Matthew 7:24-29 (ESV)
“Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”And when Jesus finished these sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he was teaching them as one who had authority, and not as their scribes."

I would like us to spend the evening praying for our leaders. Our local government, state government and federal government. Each of our leaders are trying to navigate through this crisis. Let us pray they have wisdom and let us pray for their salvation.
"First of all, then, I urge that entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men, for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and quiet life in all godliness and dignity."

Nothing Stops The Worship Of God

It's Sunday. This morning I did what I do every Sunday morning. I walked the dog, prayed for my church family, asked my Father in Heaven to turn my heart to Him. Although this Sunday morning was going to be different, a shock to my routine. I would not be gathering with my church family to sing, pray, and hear God's Word preached.

As I walked outside, I looked across the street at the empty parking lot where my church usually gathers. There is no sound coming from inside the church building. No guitars being tuned, no laughter, no warm handshakes or hugs. It doesn't look like a Sunday morning, yet it is Sunday morning.

Then I heard chirps from the birds in the trees above me. There is a rustling of leaves in the woods by the running squirrels. The wind is gusting, the sun is shining.

Does nature not care that a virus has stricken the land? Do these animals not know that the church will not be gathered together to pray, sing and hear God's Word? They are acting as though this is a normal day, that all is right.

Romans 1:20 says, "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen...."

Even in the silence of a church building God's attributes, His eternal power, and His divine nature shines through by His wondrous creation. Nothing stops the worship of God.

In Luke 19, the Pharisees tried to get Jesus to quiet His disciples. A large crowd had begun following Jesus as he rode His triumphal entry on a donkey. The people were spreading their coats on the road and singing loudly for all that Jesus had done. They were shouting, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

The Pharisees didn't like the scene that was taking place. Telling Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples."

Jesus answered them, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

This is good news Christian, if we have ears to listen. Nothing can stop the worship of God. Nothing can stop God from being seen. His invisible attributes shine through even in the midst of empty parking lots. Rocks sing praises in the midst of empty pews.

Angels are still circling His throne singing, "Holy, Holy, Holy."

I look forward to the Sunday when I will see cars pulling into the parking lot again. When I see my church gathered to sing, pray, and hear God's Word. For now we must sing praises where we are, pray where we are, read God's Word where we are.

Until we meet again, let us have ears to hear and eyes to see that nothing stops the worship of God.

"My soul, wait in silence for God only,
For my hope is from Him.
He only is my rock and my salvation,
My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.
On God my salvation and my glory rest;
The rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.
Trust in Him at all times, O people;
Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah."

Matthew 7:7-11 (ESV)

7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!"
